Aroostook County Childcare Resource Center Welcomes Melanie Tompkins as New Director

Aroostook County, ME— [January 23, 2025]—The Aroostook County Childcare Resource Center, a vital initiative under the United Way of Aroostook, is pleased to announce Melanie Tompkins’s appointment as the new Director. In her role, Melanie will lead efforts to enhance childcare access and support for families, providers, and employers across Aroostook County.

With a strong background in social work and community outreach, Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. She has previously worked with various organizations focused on child development and family support, demonstrating a commitment to improving the quality of childcare services within the region.

“I am delighted at this opportunity to continue building on all the work that has taken place to support our childcare system in Aroostook,” said Melanie. “I hope to leverage my experience with the compassion of our communities to solve this crisis. My goal is to refine what we already have here so that all families can access quality, affordable childcare.”

The Aroostook County Childcare Resource Center plays a crucial role in addressing the county’s childcare crisis, offering resources, training, and support to childcare providers. Under Melanie’s leadership, the center hopes to foster collaboration among providers, employers, and community organizations.
