United Way of Aroostook follows the accounting standards set by United Way Worldwide, meets FASB guidelines, and is audited by an independent accounting firm each year. Several local business leaders with financial expertise oversee and review the United Way of Aroostook fiscal control policies and practices and interim financial statements throughout the year.

No one person administers the work of United Way of Aroostook. United Way of Aroostook is run by local volunteers who review our budget, IRS Form 990, and the annual audit. The United Way of Aroostook Board of Directors establishes policy and sets the strategic direction that United Way staff implement and follow.

Volunteers oversee the allocation of funds to agencies and program partners. Every year, more than 30 trained United Way of Aroostook community volunteers to decide where the funding can have the greatest amount of impact in our community.
